Jake Tipton Haney, 87, of Englewood, passed away on Friday, May 5, 2017, at Bradley Healthcare & Rehabilitation in Cleveland.

He was a lifelong resident of McMinn County. A son of the late Walter and Eliza Burris Haney, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Marie Martha Casteel Haney, on Feb. 7, 2015; four sisters, Oneida Smith, Lura Lee Golden, Ruth McNelley and Geneva Breshears; and two brothers, Thomas Haney and James Haney. Jake was retired from Plastic Industries after 25 years of service and was a longtime member of the First Church of God in Englewood.

Survivors include one daughter, Debbie Haney of Cleveland; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Rick and Evelyn Haney of Cleveland, and Steve Haney of Englewood; two grandchildren, Erica Parris and her husband, Justin, of Cleveland, and Caleb Haney of Cleveland; one sister, Wilma Lovingood and her husband, Robert, of Athens; two sisters-in-law, Gracie Raper and her husband, Jack, of Englewood, and Carrie Brown and her husband, Lynn, of Englewood; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at the First Church of God in Englewood with Pastor Rick Patterson officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Sunrise Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Sam Natter, Tommy Haney, Jimmy Haney, Caleb Haney, Tracy Lovingood and Jack Raper.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday prior to the funeral service at the church.

Ziegler Funeral Home of Athens has been entrusted with the care of Jake Tipton Haney.
