James Ross Amos, 74, of Lenoir City passed away Saturday, May 6, 2017. Ross graduated from Lenoir City High School and the University of Cincinnati. He was a proud member of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) and an avid golfer. He loved life and enjoyed spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dortha ‘Gerry’ Large Amos and James S. Amos; grandparents, Charlie and Viola Forrester Large, and John and Mattie Amos.

Ross is survived by daughters: Cynthia (David) Johnson, Tracy Amos and Catherine Cornn , all of Harrison, Ohio; grandchildren: Anthony (Katie) Johnson of Akron, Ohio, Daniel Johnson, Logan Cornn and Lindsey Cornn, all of Harrison, Ohio; great-grandson, Everett Johnson of Akron, Ohio; Janice Harmon Amos, mother of his daughters, of Harrison, Ohio; sisters: Jeanne Burdell of Idaho City, Idaho, Joyce (Gillis) Morgan of Lenoir City, and Jan Gibson of Loudon along with several nieces, nephews and cousins

The family would like to thank the staff of nurse station #3 of Kindred Healthcare and the 3rd floor staff at Parkwest Medical Center for their care of Ross during his final months. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ross’ memory to the Innovation Church, 135 Byers Avenue, Akron, Ohio 44302.

Family and friends will gather at Niota Cemetery in Niota, TN at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 10 for graveside services and internment. Pastor Anthony Johnson, grandson will be officiating.
