ANN CADDELL GARRETT
June 5, 1922 - May 6, 2017

Ann Caddell Garrett, 94 passed away Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Piedmont Fayette Hospital, Fayetteville Georgia.

Mrs. Garrett was born June 5th, 1922 to the late Oda & Martha (Roberts) Caddell in Walker County, AL.

She married Floyd Garrett, Sr and raised 2 children in Birmingham, Alabama. She moved to Fayetteville, GA in 1992.

"Mommy Ann," as she enjoyed being called, was a loving & kind mother with a passion for gardening, cooking, and The Alabama Crimson Tide.

When the US Navy requested that women enlist as part of The United States Navy (WAVES) during WWII, Ann was fully engaged and gladly accepted the challenge. After the war, her excellent work ethic and dedication served her well when she worked for Alabama Coal (Drummond Corporation), where she worked with H.E. Drummond. Ann always smiled and addressed guests as "Shug” when they walked through the door.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Garrett was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Garrett, Sr., 4 sisters and 5 brothers.

Mrs. Garrett is survived by daughter Martha “Suzy” Russell and her husband Bruce of GA; her son Floyd “Skip” Garrett and his wife Donna, of FL; 4 grandchildren, Patrick Garrett, Dana Mifsud, Wendy Powers, and Stephanie Peck; 7 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, her brother David Caddell, of Michigan, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville. Rev. Warren Huddleston and Rev. Herb Flanders will officiate. The family will receive friends on Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 1:00 (EST) at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham, AL.
