Walter Glover, age 91, of Carlyle, died at 9:16 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007, at Greenville Regional Hospital.
He was born on Sept. 16, 1915, in Tom's Creek, Va., the son of the late Samuel and Lucy Williams Glover.
He married Alma Senn on Aug. 16, 1952, at Grantfork E&R Church. She preceded him in death on March 28, 1999.
He is survived by nieces: Verna Pyle and husband, Kenneth of Vandalia, Gail Harnetiaux of Greenville, Anna Hopper and husband, William of Plainview, and Jenette Gross and husband, Ronald of Litchfield; and nephews: Vern Harnetiaux Jr. and wife, Mary, Larry Harnetiaux and wife, Brenda, all of Greenville, Samuel Glover of Mount Olive, and Thomas Glover and wife, Debra of Mount Clair.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother: Taylor Glover; four sisters: Mary Harnetiaux, Bessie Glover, Pearl Aemissegger and Lillie Glover; two nieces: Marie Kleber and Rika Glover; and three nephews: David, Daniel and Sammy Harnetiaux.
Mr. Glover was born in Tom's Creek, Va., and moved to St. Jacob. While residing there he worked at the feed store. He later farmed for many years south of Alhambra. When he retired from farming, he was employed as a custodian at UCC Church in St. Louis for 16 years, retiring at the age of 69. His memberships included being a former member of Grantfork UCC.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 28, at Dauderman Mortuary in Alhambra.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 28, at the funeral home with Rev. Thomas Rankin Jr., pastor of Wisetown Baptist Church in Greenville, officiating.
Interment will be at Salem Cemetery in Alhambra.
Pallbearers will be William Hopper, Ronald Gross, Larry Harnetiaux, Vern Harnetiaux Jr., Sam Glover and Anna Hopper.
Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association and Cardinal Hill Health Care.
