A lifelong area resident, Ruth was born in Chester on January 1, 1916. She was a daughter of Thomas H. and Laura Blanche Emery Brant.
Ruth was a loving homemaker and much earlier had worked in the checkout line for the Russ Davis IGA.
She was a member of the Chester Church of the Nazarene and a graduate of Chester High School where she was a member of the band. Ruth loved crafting, adored animals and was very active in the Hancock County Senior Center for many years.
Her husband, Bernard H. Hissom, passed away on January 26, 2002. Her brother and sisters, Floyd Brant, June Cornell, Gladys Wilson and Pearl Tucker preceded her in death as well, as did her daughter, Marla Kessler.
Surviving is her daughter, Kay Frank of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Her grandchildren, Stephen (Janice) Kessler, Carl (Stacie) Kessler, Sharon (John) Cox and Christina (Kenneth) Heschel; twelve great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Pastor Steve Cummings of the church will celebrate Ruth’s life at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester on Thursday, May 11 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Columbiana County Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
