John Richard Shurtliff was born July 30, 1937, at Calistoga, California, to George Earl Shurtliff and Edna Edith Richardson Shurtliff. In his early years he lived in Guerneville, California, and Santa Rosa, California. Later in life he lived in Napa, California and Carson City, Nevada. He was a hard worker and had a love of cars.
