Chico ~ F. Robert Goynes, 67, a retired electrician and phone technician, went to be with our Lord Friday, May 5, 2017, at his home in Chico.

Funeral is 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 13, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Chico with burial in Chico Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8:30 p.m. Friday at Hawkins Funeral Home.

Rev. John Williams will officiate. Pallbearers include Bill Nelson, Cory Green, Chan Horne, Jose Rivera, Wayne Clark, Salvador Quiroz, Billy Melton, Chris Levaya, and Justin Knox. Honorary pallbearers are the Texas Baptist Men, Royal Ambassadors, and Sprint Employees.

Robert was born on November 9, 1949 to Francis Robert and Flora Mae (Parker) Goynes in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He was united in marriage to Cynthia Sherman on October 28, 1972 in Osage City, Kansas. Robert retired from Sprint Telephone in 1995 after 18 years of service then worked as an electrician in all phases of electrical work for 18 years and retired from ROC Services in 2014. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Chico. Robert was member of the Texas Baptist Men and, Royal Ambassadors (RA’s) for over 39 years. Robert was also involved in the RA track meet for 33 years. He was a member of Woodmen Life for 50 years and currently served as president of Chapter 2 Fort Worth. He was active in his community and churches wherever he resided.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 44 years, Cynthia Sherman Goynes of Chico; his sons, Robert M. “Bobby” Goynes and wife Angela of Wichita Falls, William K. “Billy” Goynes and wife Angie of Bridgeport; his grandchildren, Abigail Abner, & Danielle and Natalie Goynes; his sister, Roxie Goynes of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; numerous nieces, nephews, more cousins than you can shake 2 sticks at, other family members, and a host of friends.
