Mr. Alger was born on October 15, 1952 in Winchester, Virginia. He was a mechanic for General Electric, having 24 years of service. He was a member of Shenandoah Valley Baptist Church. Mr. Alger was a member of Winchester Moose Lodge 1283 and Winchester Eagles Aerie 824. He was a veteran, having served with the United States Army in the Military Police.
Surviving are two children, Dustin Michael Alger of Stephens City and Marcus Wayne Alger of Winchester, Virginia; former wife, Patsy Alger; stepfather and mother, Garnett and Arminta Madigan Fridley of Stephens City, Virginia; a sister, Patricia Pontz of Front Royal, Virginia and several stepbrothers and stepsisters. He is preceded in death by his father, Floyd Alger and stepmother, Nellie Alger.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with the Reverend Charles Brooks officiating. Interment will be in Friendship Chapel Cemetery, Stephens City, Virginia. Military Honors will be conducted by VFW Post 2123.
Pallbearers will be Ronald Sine, Greg Pitta, Larry Ashbury, Kurt Meier, David Conner, Shane Pontz and Chris McHugh.
The family will receive friends at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel on Wednesday evening from 7:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.
