Arthur G. Porcello, 81, of Getman Road, Fonda, NY; passed away Thursday morning May 4, 2017 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, NY; surrounded by his loving family by his side.

Born in Amsterdam, NY on September 8, 1935, he was the son of the late Anthony and Mary Riccio Porcello.

Art received his education in the Amsterdam school system and graduated from Wilbur H. Lynch High School.

Art was honorably discharged from United States Army Reserve on March 31, 1962, serving with Company C 105th Airlift Wing, NYNG in Scotia, NY.

Art was employed as a foreman for Montgomery County Department of Public Works, from which he retired after 42 years.

Art was a parishioner and communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Amsterdam, NY.

He was a member of the Glen-Mohawk Seniors, Port Jackson Bowling League, Port Jackson and Herk’s Bocce Leagues, he played softball in the Amsterdam City Night League with the former Rupsis Grill, coached several little league teams, enjoyed playing Bingo at the Turning Stone Casino, horse racing at Saratoga, going to Yankee games, watching his grandchildren’s sporting events and above all just spending time with his entire family.

Art is survived by his wife, Esther Ross, who he married April 24, 1954, two daughters, Donna Gage (Jeffrey), and Debbie Kowalczyk (Dan) all of Fort Johnson, NY; one son, Arthur G. Porcello Jr. (Shelly) of E. Berlin, PA; one brother, Charles Porcello of Amsterdam, NY; eight grandchildren, Mark Cebula (Emily), Mandy Ford (Anthony), David Cebula (Jill), Sherri Gage-Guenther (Eric), Jeffrey Gage Jr. (Sheila), Erica Novak (Andrew), Cory Porcello and Mya Porcello, and nine great grandchildren, sister-in-law, Connie Pereicich ( Bill). Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Art was also predeceased by his sister-in-law, Kathleen Porcello and his brother-in-law, Tom Bagdon.

He was well loved, by everyone who knew him and will be truly missed by all.

Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fort Johnson, NY.
