John David Caldwell went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012, in Baton Rouge after a lengthy battle with liver cancer. He was 60 and a native of Winnfield. He is survived by Sabra, his loving wife of 37 years; three children, son and daughter-in-law, Capt. Dr. James and Katie Caldwell; daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Kris Hughes; and daughter, Meredith Caldwell; two grandchildren, Isaac and Emily Caldwell; two step-granddaughters, Kristina and Leah Hughes; and brother and sister-in-law, James N. and Libby Caldwell. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. J.E. and Alethea Caldwell. John was a longtime member of Jefferson Baptist Church where he was a deacon, a member of the choir and taught the Kingdom Builders' Sunday School class for the last 11 years. John received his bachelor's degree from Northwestern and his master's degree from LSU in Baton Rouge. He worked as the chief process technical manager for 30 years at the Royalene EPDM operation in the Lion Copolymer plant in Geismar. Viewing at Jefferson Baptist Church on Tuesday, Jan. 31, from 10 a.m. until funeral service at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the John D. Caldwell-Lion Copolymer Endowment in Graduate Studies at LSU Foundation, 3838 W.
