Wayne Allen Beck, 85, of McCutchenville, OH passed away Thursday, June 18, 2015 at 9:15 a.m. at the Fairhaven Community Center in Upper Sandusky. Wayne was born October 31, 1929 in Findlay, OH to the late Hallie J. and Mildred (Frazier) Beck. On January 8, 1955, he married Nancy J. Smith and she preceded him in death on March 14, 1999. Surviving are sons James A. of McCutchenville, Terry of Palm Springs, FL and Steve of Dallas, TX; and daughter Lisa Stargel of My. Airy, MD and step-daughter Christna "Chrissy" Dauterman of Findlay. Also surviving are several grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as a half-brother, Gary May. Wayne served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War from 1948 to 1954. He had memberships in the VFW and Amvets. He was also a member of the Howard United Methodist Church. His work career was varied, having began at age 11 by setting pins in a local bowling center. At age 14 he helped his grandpa in the oil fields on a tool rig for $1 an hour. At 17, he moved on to Smith Brothers Automatic Machine, then to Garwood Sheet Metal, then to McDonald-Bigelow. His last position was a bus driver/mechanic and maintenance personnel for the Findlay City Schools from 1965 to 1992. It was Wayne's wish to be cremated. There will be no visitation. A graveside memorial service will be at 12:00 noon on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Van Buren Bechtel Cemetery, with his son-in-law, Jim Stargel officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made in Wayne's name to VFW Post 5645, 315 Walnut Street, Findlay, Ohio 45840.
