AN UNEXPECTED END.
J. H. Fuchs, the local manager of the Anheuser-Busch Brewing Association, died at 10 o'clock this morning at his home, 1122 North Fifth, of capillary bronchitis, after an illness of but six days, beginning with 'the grip.'
Mr. Fuchs was much esteemed as a friend and businessman by everyone who knew him. He was a son of Reinhard Fuchs, a professor of language, and was born in St. Louis forty-three years ago. He came to Quincy in 1884 -- the same year he was married.
He was book keeper for the Anheuser-Busch company here for one year, and then was sent to Houston Texas, for twelve months. He was again transferred to Quincy, and promoted to manager, which position he held at his death. He was an expert accountant, a practical businessman, and one of the best men with the company.
He was a member of the Commercial Club, the A. O. U. W., the Carriage and Wagon Makers' Association, and the Turn Verein. He leaves a wife and two children -- one a boy of 6 years, and the other a babe of 3 months.

Rev. Dr. Bradley conducted the services at the house yesterday afternoon, on the occasion of the funeral of J. H. Fuchs, and Gottlieb Gross conducted them at the cemetery.
The attendance of friends was large. Adam Kohl was here from Peoria, where he is agent for the Anheuser-Busch Brewing Association; and E. Homeyer and John B. Busch were here from St. Louis.
From the Anheuser-Busch Brewing Association came a magnificent floral tribute, and there were numbers of others.
The pall bearers were: Joseph Knittel, Emil Knittel, H. F. Huxall, Gottlieb Gross, George Elick, and John Helfring.
The Carriage and Wagon Makers' Association attended in a body.
