traffic accident of the y e a r 1966 claimed the life of an Austin man and injured two others Wednesday afternoon three miles west of Dexter on Inter state. Killed was Geoige Ellis, 54, a passenger in a pickup truck driven by Edwin E. Burger, 3fi. Burger and a second passenger. Edward Scoficld, 61, were taken to St. Olaf Hospital. Scofield was treated and released. Burger remained in the hospital today but his condition was described as good. All three men have Austin Rt. 5 addresses.
George Ellis was killed instantly when thrown from the pickup truck as it was hit from behind by a semitrailer driven by Daryl Lee Ellis, (no relation), 28, of Sioux Falls, S. D. Both trucks were traveling west when Daryl Ellis attempted to pass the pickup. He was charged with careless driving by the State Highway Patrol and posted bail. The accident happened at 3:35 p.m. The pickup truck, which Sheriff Doyle Lindahl described as a total loss, was pulling a corn picker when the accident occurred. About $250 damage was listed for the semi-trailer.

Surviving are his widow. Laura; eight sons, Duane, Salem, Ore.; Delmar, Lyle, Rt. 1; Rodney, Norbert and Russell, Cedar Ranids, Iowa; Paul, Hinckley, Minn.; Raymond and Mark, Austin Rt. 5: two daughters, Mrs. Arnold (Betty Jane Swanson. Mountain Home.
Arik., Miss Carol Ellis, Austin Rt. 5; 15 grandchildren; his father, Clarence Ellis, Austin Rt. 5; five brothers, Clyde, Austin Rt. 5; Max, Lyle Rt. 1; Herbert. Sacramento, Calif.; Arthur. Roseville, Calif.; Robert, St. Paul; five sisters, Mrs. Lawrence Dunfee, and Mrs. Pat (Clara) Curtin, Austin; Mrs. John Weiss (Grace) of,Springfield, Minn.; Mrs. Joseph Infante, St. Paul, and Mrs. W Drechel, (Dorothy) Minneapolis.
George's Funeral Saturday services will be held 2 p m. Saturday at the Berg Funeral Chapel. Rev. E. II. Marquardt will officiate. Interment will be in Grand View Memorial Gardens. Friends may call after G p.m. today. The casket will be closed.
