Myron Denis Klaassen, son of William F. and Margaret J. (Kruger) Klaassen, was born April 18, 1943 at George, IA. He spent his youth in the Boyden area, and received his education at the Boyden Public School.

On December 17, 1979, Myron was united in marriage to Karen (Jacobs) Fink at Trinity United Church of Christ at Hartley, IA. Together they raised their family and enjoyed being part of their childrens' activities as they grew up.

Myron was employed as a semi driver at AMPI at Sanborn, IA. He retired in 2006, after 43 years of service in their transportation division. Between work and family obligations, there wasn't always a lot of time left in a day, but when he could, Myron took the boys, and the required fishing gear, and spent some down-time with his pole in the water. As the boys got older and started their own families, many good memories were made during fishing excursions with the grandkids. In later years, Myron and Karen escaped the cold weather by spending a few weeks in Arizona each year. Those times were welcomed and enjoyable.

Myron was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Hartley where he served on the Church Consistory for five years, as well as helping with other church activities. He was a member of the Masons of Iowa for 24 years and the Order of Eastern Star for 20. When he could work it in, Myron would help several farmers out during the harvest season in the Boyden, Rock Rapids, Rock Valley, and Sanborn areas. He also transported pigs for a local farmer's hog operation. He loved going to auctions, buying and refurbishing houses, and bowled on a league in Sanborn for many years. Myron passed from this life on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at the age of 73.

Preceding him in death were his parents, William and Margaret Klaassen; his brothers: Joel (1965) and Richard (2003); brother-in-law, Arlen Vander Wilt; and two grandchildren.

Myron is survived by his wife, Karen of Sanborn, IA; his children: Kevin (Teresa) Klaassen of Sibley, IA, Kirk (Cynthia) Klaassen of Hartley, IA, Korey (Marsha) Klaassen of Sanborn, IA, Keith (Marty Anne) Klaassen of Seffner, FL, James Fink of Modesto, CA, John (Nancy) Fink of Sun Valley, NV, and Mark (Jen) Klaassen of Rock Valley, IA; 24 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; brother, Burdell (Judith) Klaassen of Sheldon, IA; sisters: Arlys (John) Smid of Colorado Springs, CO, Sharon Vander Wilt of Boyden, IA, Mavis (Jude) Gravenhof of Worthington, MN, and Rhonda (Ed) Pettit of Boyden, IA; other relatives and friends.
