Lois Eleanor May Abbott , 87, of Lynchburg, passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2016, at Heartland-Lynchburg. She was the wife of the late Ellis Noell Abbott. Born on October 3, 1929, in Bedford County, she was the daughter of the late Julian E. May and Kathleen C. May. She was a homemaker and member of Bethany United Methodist Church and the Eastern Star-Forest Chapter #143. She is survived by three sons, Phillip Abbott (Frances), Bruce Abbott (Becky), and Michael Abbott (Penny); eight grandchildren, Heather Theakston (Ned), Sherry Coley, Jonathan Andrews (Mary), Emily Kane (Michael), Samuel Abbott (Kristin), Tiffany, Cadence, and Jamie Clark; and ten great-grandchildren, Brittany Coley, Reece Theakston, Nathan Coley, Joseph Theakston, Joshua Coley, Landon Andrews, Madelyn Kane, Levi Abbott, Bentley Clark, and Parker Giles. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Julian Earl May, Wayne B. May, Sr., and Kenneth G. May, Sr.; and three sisters, Lillian T. Callahan, Ruby M. Mason, and Vivian M. Tibbs. A funeral service will be held Friday, December 9, 2016, at 12p.m. at Diuguid Wiggington Road Chapel with the Rev. William Clark officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the funeral home.
