Daughter of Rev. Spence Monroe Grayson and Mary Elizabeth Wagener.

Married Lund Washington, Sr. on February 11, 1793. Her husband remarried on April 11, 1823 to Sally Johnson.

Children:

1. Col. Lund Washington, Jr. m. Sarah Biggs, 11 Jun 1819, Washington D.C. Children: Virginia and Hebe or Phoebe.

2. Susan Jean Washington (April 30th, 1795 - 1829) m. Edward S. Lewis (d.1829), 2 Dec 1815, Washington D.C. Children: Susan Lewis Slade (March 1820) and one son Edward Lewis m. Ms. Bransford.

3. Thomas Washington (20 Mar 1797 - Oct 1803). Died at "Belmont".

4. Col. Peter Grayson Washington (1798-1872) m. ?

5. Mary Elizabeth Washington m. Lt. Joseph S. McPherson, 28 Jan 1819, Washington D.C.

6. Col. William Townsend Grayson Washington (28 Feb 1802 - 1827, Napoli (Naples) Italy). Was a cadet at West Point and entered into the Greek Military service as Lt. Colonel. He was killed at Napoli by a random shot from insurgent troops.

7. Benjamin Strother Washington (16 Oct 1803 - 12 Jul 1804). Died of croup.

8. Robert Washington, War of 1812, (5 Dec 1805 - Sep 1832, Piscataway , Prince George's County, MD). Died of cholera.

9. John Grayson Washington (12 Mar 1808 - 12 Aug 1809, Stafford County, VA). Swallowed a piece of glass which caused his death.

11. Sally Hays Travers Washington (1813-1891) m. Socrates Chapman Maupin. In consequence of the death of her mother when she was very young, was adopted by her first cousin Susan M. G. Rawlings of Richmond, VA.

Gravesite Details

Her husband, Lund Washington would have buried his wife Susan Grayson in 1822 and her mother in 1810, as she died at their residence. Susan's headstone may have succumbed by time, as did Lund's. Are the earliest records for the cemetery complete?
