1935 - 2017
Garry Lynn Clawson, age 81, passed away peacefully in his sleep with his family by his side of natural causes on April 30, 2017, in Provo, Utah. He was born June 11, 1935, in Ogden, Utah, and was the third son of Elijah and Verna Williamsen Clawson.
He grew up with his three brothers in Ogden, Utah, where his father owned a grocery store. His parents instilled in him a love for music, which led him to become a very gifted musician. One of his fondest memories was playing the pipe organ in the Tabernacle on Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah. His love for the organ continued throughout his entire life. His favorite church callings involved playing the organ especially at the Portland Oregon LDS Temple.
Garry served in the Northwestern States Mission. He was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and enjoyed serving others. He was a true cowboy, never going anywhere without his boots or his Stetson. He loved horses, westerns, and anything Native American.
Garry is predeceased by his wife, Leila; his parents and older brother, Boyd. He is survived by his children: Gary (Sonja), Charvel, Michele, Lisa, Jon (Carmen), and Michael (Jenny); 25 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren two brothers: Jay and Steve.
