It becomes the sad duty of your correspondent to report the death of P. C. Helms. Two weeks ago he became sick with measles, before full recovery pneumonia set in. The progress of the dread disease was rapid and at 9 o'clock Sunday night his spirit went home to it's maker.
Mr. Helms seemed aware of the approach of death but he was prepared to go and was unafraid. Because of dangerous illness of three of the children, the family could not attend the funeral. Bro. Cornelius conducted a beautiful service at the residence. He stated that Mr. Helms was a member of the Baptist church at Pumphrey. Had he lived until next month he would have attained the forty first year of his age. He was an honest, loyal neighbor, an affectionate and faithful husband and father, a man with many friends and not an enemy. His sorrowing relatives know that he has only gone on before and that faith in Jesus and repentance will secure for each a share in the home above.
