BREWIN DESMOND RODNEY BREWIN, 73, passed away on Thursday, April 5, 2012 in Lethbridge, Alberta.
Rod was born on the family homestead near Purple Springs, Alberta on May 10, 1938. He was the fifth of seven children born to Frank and Marjorie Brewin.
He grew up working on the family farm with his brothers and sisters. After graduating from high school in Grassy Lake, he started his own farm and married Louise Borggard. They raised four sons before selling the farm in 1977 and moving to Lethbridge, Rod spent several years selling real estate before starting to work as a crop insurance adjuster for Alberta Hail and Crop, first based in Lethbridge and later in Medicine Hat. He retired in 2009 and at about the same time married Bev Giroux of Medicine Hat. He lived in Medicine Hat until returning to Lethbridge in the fall of 2011, Although Rod sold his farm more than thirty years ago, his bond to farming and to his family and friends continued to his passing.
He enjoyed visiting family members on their farms and was greatly comforted by his many visitors and phone calls during his final days.
Rod is survived by his four sons: Kevin of Toronto; Kerry (Patti) of Strathmore and their children Kendra and Michael; Rick (Beatrice) of Lethbridge; and Blair (Florence) of Calgary and their children Paul and Ben. He leaves three brothers: Gerald (Margaret), Frank (Colleen), and Tim (Pat), and two sisters, Eleanor Wagner (Harry) and Marjorie Scott (Allan). He also leaves his wife, Bev, and numerous nieces and nephew
