Canton, Mo. Nov. 13. - Mr. and Mrs. Charles Adams and son were called from Chicago by the serious illness of his mother, Mrs. Charlotte Adams here. Misses Ella and Thyra Gunn of Quincy visited their aunt last week and Mrs. Adams' daughter from Colorado also came this week.

FUNERAL OF MRS. C. ADAMS
Pioneer of Canton, Mo., Vicinity and Much Beloved and Respected. (By Staff Correspondent).

Canton, Mo., Nov. 17. - Funeral services were held on Saturday over the remains of Mrs. Charlotte Adams. The obsequies were conducted by Rev. Howard Davis at the McKendree M. E. church, and were most impressive. The remains were laid to rest in Forest Grove cemetery.

Mrs. Adams was born in Delaware county, Ohio, July 30, 1840, and was therefore 73 years of age. She came to Missouri with her parents in the early 50's and her maiden name was Charlotte Gunn. She was the last member of her father's family to pass away.

The Gunn family settled on a farm near this city and the decedent lived there until her marriage with William Adams, in October, 1859. Mr. Adams died in 1895. To this union two daughters and one son were born. The eldest daughter died in childhood. The other daughter, Mrs. Lulu Burdick resides at Denver, Colo., and the son, Charles B. Adams, resides in Chicago. There are two nices, Mrs. Hattie Aiken of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Miss Ella Gunn of Quincy.

Mrs. Adams was a faithful and life-long member of the M.E. church. She united with that denomination in a meeting conducted by "Jimmie" Penn, a famous preacher of the pioneer days.

On November 6, last she was stricken by an ailment of the stomach, which was serious from the first and which caused her death one week later.
