Burget, Friar Joel,

OFM Conv., died Friday, April 21, 2017, in Terre Haute, Indiana. He was born Robert Joseph on June 17, 1939, in Terre Haute, to John R. and Mildred (Rassel) Burget. He entered the Conventual Franciscan Order in 1957, professed Simple Vows on July 10, 1958, and Solemn Vows on October 11, 1961. He was ordained a Priest on March 5, 1966 in St. Paul, Minnesota. He served as a missionary for 20 years in Zambia (formerly Northern Rhodesia) and in the US in Chicago Heights, Illinois, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Centralia, Illinois, and for many years in Terre Haute.

He was pre-deceased by his parents; his sister, Sr. Ann Brendan, SP; and his brother, John. He is survived by his sister, Mrs. Sally Jones of Beaumont, Texas; and five nieces and nephews.

Viewing will be held in the Chapel at Mount St. Francis, Indiana, on Thursday, April 27 from 9:30 to 11 am, with remembrances beginning at 10:30. The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 am, followed by interment in the Friars' Cemetery.
