Gail Evans, age 82 of Boone, died April 19, 2017 at the Boone County Hospital.

Gail Duane Evans, was born in Boone, Iowa on August 12, 1934, the son of Orville and Geneva (Cole) Evans. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Los Angeles, California and then served with the United States Coast Guard during the Korean War. In 1967, Gail married Patti O’Grady in Ojai, California. The couple later divorced.

Gail owned/operated The Drayman Trucking in Fort Dodge and also Oak Outhouse Antiques, in Boone. He also worked as a professional photographer. Gail enjoyed reading, playing poker, collecting men’s hats, and listening to National Public Radio and his favorite radio show, ‘Prairie Home Companion’.

Gail is preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Daniel Anderson. He is survived by a step-daughter, Susan Anderson and husband Mark of Clarinda; two sisters, Deborah Evans of Boone and Delores Nellie Doutt of Paso Robles, California; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
