Funeral services for Dora Angell Smith, 94, of Tyler are scheduled for Sunday April 23, 2017 at 3:00pm with Reverend Sherman Mayfield officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held in the Pinecrest Cemetery in Troup under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home. Mrs. Dora Smith passed away on Wednesday April 19, 2017, in Tyler. She was born on October 18, 1922 in Cameron, to the late Ed and Ida Angell. She married Reuben R. Smith, the love of her life on October 10, 1942 and had a wonderful 69 years together before his passing. They moved several times throughout his teaching career that eventually lead them to Troup and later on to Tyler. She was a homemaker and member of Bethel Baptist Church in Chapel Hill. Mrs. Smith was a loving mother, Mawmaw and friend to many. She enjoyed her life and loved her husband with all her heart. She will be deeply missed. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Reuben Raymond Smith, daughter, Barbara Ann Smith Sadler, and her brother E.L. Angell. Survivors include a son, Larry Smith and his wife Kim of Tyler; along with two grandchildren Tori Smith Modisette and her husband Rick of Lindale; Hollis Smith Taylor and her husband James of Tyler; her sister Leola Roccato of Temple; her brother James Angell and his wife Julie of Katy; six great grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Rick Modisette, Casen Modisette, James Taylor, Wes Shumate, Max Burch and Bryan Smith. Thank you to the staff of Meadow Lake and Hospice of East Texas for the incredible care she received. We will be forever grateful. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd. Tyler, Texas 75701
