He was a member of Mount Sinai Baptist Church and served previously on the Board of Directors for the No. 3 Volunteer Fire Dept.
He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Bolton; first wife, Patricia Conley Bolton; and brother, J.B. Bolton.
He is survived by his mother Verna Hamrick Bolton of Shelby; wife, Edith Bradley Bolton of the home; son and his wife, Dannie Bolton and Debora of Shelby; son and his wife, David Bolton and Pam of Shelby; daughter and her husband, Gail Ross and Eddie of Shelby, stepson and his wife, Gary Philbeck and Wanda of Shelby; stepson and his wife, Daryl Philbeck and Lisa of Kings Mountain; stepdaughter Renee Logan and her fiance, Bill Stiles of Fayetteville; brother and his wife; Don Bolton and Melvin of Shelby; sister, Frances Wilson of Boone; four grandchildren; Dana Bolton, Chrissy Bolton, Emily Bolton and Raven Ross, two step-grandchildren, Clifton Plank and Carlton Logan.
Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.
