"The grave marker was originally standing up, but in the 1950's the sandstone markers/monuments were all laid down because of their sensitivity to weathering. William's monument was totally invisible but we probed and found it. I have to tell you that once we unearth these cool, old monuments, we have to cover them back up so they are preserved again and don't become a lawn cutting hazard to the grounds keepers. We wished we could have lifted it up to find out if his wife, Julia, was listed on the back."

Suggested edit: William Farrell, whose residence was in Waumandee WI, enlisted on 3/8/1865 as a Private and mustered into "K" Co. WI 48th Infantry. He was Mustered Out on 3/24/1866.
