She was the daughter of Alfred James and Rosa Neoma Parker Sparling. She married William Riley Cochran on August 21, 1911 in Clay County, IL. Mother of Opal Ferrell, Ruby Ilene, and Lawrence Dean Cochran.

Mrs. William R. Cochran died Sunday, April 15, 1957 at her home in the Farmersburg vicinity southwest of Newton, following a long illness. She was 61.

Mrs. Cochran, as Frances Orpha Sparling, was born August 28, 1895, in Effingham county, a daughter of Alfred and Rosa Parker Sparling. She was married to William Riley cochran August 31, 1911 and he survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Opal) Downham of South Bend, IN and Mrs. John (Ruby) Bangert of Clay City; a son, Lawrence Cochran of the Farmersburg vicinity; eleven grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Ernest (Nora) McCann of Robinson and three half-sisters, Mrs. Vern Fulk of Dieterich, Mrs. Edith Steele of Miami, Fl, and Mrs. Ruby Bartlett of Bartlett, Texas.

One grandchild preceded her in death.

Mrs. Cochran was a member of the Latona Christian Church.

Funeral services were held in the Latona Christian church with Rev. Turis E. Davis of Dieterich officiating.

Burial was in Trexler cemetery with the Reese service in charge.

The body was taken to the family home Monday morning from the Reese Funeral Home.
