Raymond Reynold Applequist, 95, passed away on Wednesday evening, February 20, 2013, at Fairview Care Center in Dodge Center.
Raymond was born on September 6, 1917, the son of Charles and Minnie (Nelson) Applequist in Wright, MN. Raymond was united in marriage to Ida Holtan on October 2, 1946, in Kasson, MN. He was a farmer of many years on Highway 56. He and Ida left the farm in 1976, and moved to Kasson, MN. Raymond worked at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester for twelve years in the kitchen. He retired at the age of 70. Raymond loved his flower garden, mowing his lawn, reading the newspaper back and forth at the dining room table.
Raymond and Ida moved to the nursing home in 2007 and Ida died in August, 2008.
Raymond is survived by his children, Karen (Daniel) Engler, Kasson, MN; Kevin (Dawn) Applequist, Stacy, MN; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren; and one sister, Helen Apfel. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ida; one infant son; one infant daughter; two brothers, and one sister.
Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday, February 24, 2013, at the Czaplewski Family Funeral Home, 25 South Street SW in Dodge Center, MN and one hour before the service at the church on Monday.
