Jerry Ray Funkhouser, age 86, of Peoria, passed away and went to heaven at 7:03 p.m. Thursday, April 13, 2017 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born Jan. 28, 1931 in Peoria to Fred and Mary (Cawdwell) Funkhouser. He married Shirley Kaufman on May 11, 1962 in Hillsboro, IL. She survives along with one daughter, Sherry (Bill) Keyser of Chillicothe, one grandson, Nicholas Keyser of Chicago, one sister, Norma Weber of Peoria, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Betty Parker, and one brother, Virgil “Doc” Funkhouser.

Jerry first worked for KL Burgett Co. in Peoria for 30 years. He then worked for Rox Bucklin Keyboard Co. in Peoria and retired as a Bailiff at the Peoria County Court House for 18 years.

Jerry enjoyed golfing with his brother Doc and his niece Barb and her husband Chris Miller. He also enjoyed playing the organ, spending time with friends, and spending time with his grandson Nick and his dog M.J. Jerry always liked helping people out. The family would like to thank the staff at OSF Medical Center for the care and compassion for Jerry.

Visitation will be Monday, April 17, 2017 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.
