SHARPE
Thomas Boyd Sharpe, 81 years of age, passed away on Thursday, December 31st, 2009. Loving husband, father, and grandfather, is survived by wife, Shirley; son, Scott (Teri); and grandsons; Barrett and Carson. Born on April 14th, 1928 in Burlington, North Carolina. He graduated from NC State. He served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1947, with a tour in Japan. Boyd began his employment with Martin Marietta in Baltimore, MD as a Structural Analyst in 1954, then transferred to the New Orleans Martin section in 1973 to work Design and Analysis for the Space Shuttle Program's External Tank Project, retiring in April, 1990. During his long career, he was a major contributor to many aerospace programs including the Titan Missile, Skylab, and the Space Shuttle. One of Boyd's passions was wood working. He also dedicated his time to volunteering, spending 16 years and over 5,000 hours volunteering at NorthShore Hospital. To all who knew him, there could not be a finer man, known by all to be peaceful with an unending sense of humor. Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 1041 9th Street, Slidell, LA 70458. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Diabetes Association.
