Charles “Chip” Steven Cleaves, 57, passed away Saturday, April 8, 2017. He was born October 14, 1959 in Miami, FL to the late Charles & Peggy Cleaves, Jr. He lived most of his life in Jacksonville, FL, was a member of North Jacksonville Baptist Church and a leader in the Boy Scouts of America Troop #135. Chip was a graduate of Andrew Jackson High School class of 1977, worked as a lab and service coordinator in the mineral separation industry. He loved scuba diving, hiking, camping, traveling and will be dearly missed. Chip was predeceased by his brother, Mike Cleaves. Survivors include his wife of 15 years, Cathy; stepdaughters, Connie Hankey (Jamie), Carrie Woods; sister, Charlene Stewart (Douglas); brother, Pat Cleaves; grandchildren, T.J., Matt, Daniel, Kai; godson, Kyle; nieces, Heidi (Dave), Kathy (Bo); nephews, Dr. Wesley (Rebecca), Stephen (Abigail), Joshua (Meredith); numerous other family and friends. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 13 at 11am in the chapel of Cedar Bay Funeral Home, 405 New Berlin Rd 32218 714-1110, with Rev. Bob Calhoun officiating. Interment will follow in Edgewood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-8pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Boy Scouts of America-North FL Council.
