Born in County Tipperary, Ireland, Thomas immigrated to Dover County, New Jersey. November 11,1854 he married Marguerite Julia Mary Mandeville ,also of County Tipperary. Julia and Thomas had four sons; Luke James, Michael P.,Thomas Joseph ,and, John Francis. Thomas predeceased Julia.
The Last Will and Testament of Thomas Joseph Maloney
In the name of God amen. I Thomas Maloney of Woodsen Precinct in the County of Morgan and the State of Illinois of the age of Fifty Six years, and being of Sound Mind and Memory do make this my Last Will and Testament in manner following that is to Say.
First: I give and bequest to my Wife Julia Maloney all my Real Estate and Personal property after all my just debts and funeral expenses are paid to have and to hold the same together with all the hereditaments and apprentices thereunto belonging during her lifetime provided she does not marry again there in that case She shall retain nothing but the dower allowed her by the statutes of the State.
Second: That my son Thomas Maloney Jr. is to have and to hold fifteen acres of Said Real Estate free of rental for the year 1889 for his Summer Work and my son John Maloney is to have fifteen Dollars per month for four months Labor in the Spring and Summer of 1889.
Third: That at the death of my Wife Julia Maloney all the Real Estate and Personal property Shall be equally divided between my sons, Luke Maloney, Michael Maloney, Thomas Maloney and John Maloney.
4th: It is my desire that all My Personal Property Shall be sold by the month of October 1889.
And Lastly: I do hereby Nominate and Appoint my Wife Julia Maloney Executor of this Last Will and Testament.

The above instrument consisting of one sheet was at this date Signed, Sealed, published and declared by the Said Thomas Maloney as and for his Last Will and Testament in presence of us who at his request and in his presence and in the presence of Each other have Subscribed our names as witnesses thereto:

Personally, appeared in Open Court Thomas Mandiville and Edward Doolin Subscribing witness to the forgoing instrument of writing purporting to be the Last Will and Testament of Thomas Maloney late of Morgan County deceased, who being duly sworn according to the law. do depose and Say each for himself that the foregoing is the Last Will and Testament of the Said Thomas Maloney deceased that Subscribed their names thereto as the attesting witnesses at the request of the Said Testation and in his presence and in the presence of each other on the 18th day of March A.D. 1889 that he then and there Subscribed his name thereto in the presence and declared the Same to be his Last Will and Testaments and that Said Testator at the time of executing the Same as aforesaid was of full age of Sound Mind and Memory and under no constraint.
