GREENUP -- Phyllis Margaret (Yaw) Barnes, age 95, of Greenup, Illinois passed away at 2:30 PM – Wednesday, February 4, 2015, at Cumberland Rehab and Health Care Center in Greenup, Illinois.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00- Noon on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Greenup, Illinois with Fr. Michael Haag celebrating Mass. Burial will be in the Jewett Cemetery in Jewett, Illinois. Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the mass at the Meyer Funeral Home (formerly Bishop Funeral Home) in Greenup, Illinois.

In loving memory of Phyllis memorials may be made to Christ the King Catholic Church or to the Donor's choice.

Phyllis Margaret was born on December 12, 1919 in Thunder Hawk, South Dakota the daughter of Jesse and Rose (Kasper) Carrell. She married Dale L. Yaw in December 17, 1938 and he preceded her in death on March 29, 1971. She later married Leroy "Roy" Barnes, Jr. on April 13, 1983 and he preceded her in death on July 12, 2004.

Phyllis retired from the United States Postal Service after 15 years of service as the Postmaster of Jewett, Illinois. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Greenup and the Greenup VFW ladies auxiliary. She enjoyed reading and was a wonderful cook.

Phyllis was known as "Fifi" to her family and friends.

Phyllis is survived by: Son – Marty (wife Sherry) Yaw of Greenup, IL; Step Daughters – Janet Mead of Effingham, Illinois and Phyllis Hawes of Greenup, Illinois; Daughter-in-law – Sandy Yaw of Effingham, Illinois; 8 Grandchildren 12 Great Grandchildren; Sister – Nina Zutter of Toppenish, Washington; Brothers – Ronald Carrell of Gravette, Arkansas; Robert Carrell of Lake Steven, Washington; Donald Carrell of Greenup, Illinois; Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; son Dennis Yaw; sister Norma McCrory; brothers Charles and Dwane Carrell was killed in World War II.
