"Mountain" George was the son of George Sapp & Christina Elizabeth Textor.

He married 23 Jun 1797 in Allegany County, Maryland to Catherine Arnold. They were the parents of 11 children: Margaret, Elizabeth "Betsy", Levi, Delila, Hester, Jonathan, Rachel, Ann, Lydia, Frances "Fanny" & Martha Sapp.

George moved his family from Maryland to Danville, Knox County, Ohio in 1808. In 1809 he is reported as being the Justice of the Peace in Danville.

In 1812 Mountain George served his country in the War/Battle of 1812 as an Ensign of Capt. Greer Company.
