Lawrence Drake, 86, Farmersburg, died unexpectedly at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday. Surviving are a sister Mrs. John Powers of Kokomo; a brother Benjamin H. Drake of Ocala, Fla.; and a niece Mrs. Laree Alexander of Kokomo. Two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

Born Sept. 9, 1874 in Tiplon County, he was the son of John A. and Naomi Turner Drake. He spent his early life on a farm south of Sharpsville and later moved to Terre Haute. Mr. Drake married Miss Fannie Trader in 1899 who preceded him in death in 1932.

A member of the Farmersburg Presbyterian Church, he spent most of his life in Terre Haute, working in the time department of the Stamping Mill. The last 17 years were spent retired on a Farmersburg Farm. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Fidler and Wood Funeral Home in Farmersburg with burial in the Highland Lawn Cemetery in Terre Haute.
