He was a native of York County and was a son of William C. AshleyJr of Chester SC and th late Brenda Burnside Ashley. He retired from the US Army as a Staff Sergeant and was a member of First Church of the Nazarene and was a graduate of Chester High School, Chester SC.
Survivingin addition to his father are his son, Robert W. "Robbie" Ashley II of Lexington SC, his daughter Lauren M. Ashley of Huntersville ALA; his brother William C. "Buddy" Ashley III of Chester SC, his sister Elizabeth "Beth" Stalnaker of Chester SC and his fiancee Kim Johnston of Chester SC. He was preceeded in death by a dauther Crystal Brooke Ashley.
