Josephine Mary Bax, 91, of Cape Girardeau, MO, died June 25, 2008, at the Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, MO. She was born March 17, 1917, in Leopold, MO, and was the daughter of Jacob J. and Lucy M. Vandeven Elfrink. She and Edmund F. Bax were married July 30, 1940, and he died June 9, 2002.

Mrs. Bax had worked for the St. John's Hospital and Wagner Electric Company in St. Louis, MO, and she was a homemaker.
She was a member of the St. John's Catholic Church, president of the St. Ann's Sodality and a member of the Legion Mary Auxiliary.

Survivors include one brother Leonard A. Elfrink of Leopold, MO; one sister Ethel Fisher of Overland, MO; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Edmund; three brothers John Martin at infancy; Martin Elfrink; Joseph Elfrink; and five sisters Martha Nenninger; Clara Terbrock; Rosina Eldracher; Adele Holzum; and Elsie Jansen.

Visitation will be June 27, 2008 at the Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill with Parish Prayers and Knight of Columbus Rosary. The Funeral Mass will be June 28, 2008 at the St. John's Catholic Church in Leopold, with the Rev. David Dohogne officiating. Burial will follow in the St. John's Church Cemetery.
