Betty June Andreoff Conrad passed on the cusp of a new day, April 4, 2017 in the loving and expert care of Hospice House North in Spokane, WA. She transitioned peacefully from this world to the next with her family by her side, as they were in life. Betty was born September 2, 1927 in McLaughlin, South Dakota to Dick and Pearl Andreoff. Betty was a member of the Wyandotte Nation of Oklahoma through the lineage of her mother, Pearl. In the midst of the Dust Bowl and Great Depression, Betty's family moved from their farm in South Dakota to Oklahoma to live at her mother's allotment one summer before moving the family of eight to Filer, ID. Betty's father went on to establish a successful onion farm in the Buhl area while her mother lovingly created and managed all aspects of their family and domestic space. Betty graduated from Buhl High School in 1944 and was recruited to be a typist in Salt Lake City for the federal government during the war. Afterward, she returned to Buhl where she was employed as a switchboard operator by the Buhl Telephone Company.

In 1948, she met and married Charles “Chuck” Conrad from Castleford, ID. They made their home on a small farm outside of Castleford where they raised four children. A central part of Betty's life during her time there was the First Baptist Church where she was baptized at a young age and returned as a wife and mother who took great care to ensure her children attended church regularly. She served as a Sunday School teacher, treasurer, and prepared communion for many years as part of the church community. Betty's faith journey progressed throughout life with prayer, attending church, Bible studies, and women's small fellowship groups.

Betty divorced in 1971 and with tremendous fortitude she moved to Filer and entered the workforce at Idaho Frozen Foods where she was employed for 22 years, receiving perfect work attendance ten years in a row. After her retirement in 1992, she worked eight years as a home care aid to elderly people in the Twin Falls area. She later moved to Moscow, ID in 2001 to live closer to her daughters and worked as a cook at St. Rose's Pre-school and Kindergarten for three years until her health declined. Betty had a strong work ethic and moral code that she lived by and imparted to her children. She also took pleasure in her yard in Filer, planting shrubs, flowers and a small vegetable garden. Betty will be remembered fondly for her steadfast faith, strength, wisdom, kindness, forgiveness, humor, love of beautiful things, and of course, as our fashionista.
Betty was preceded in death by: her parents, Dick and Pearl Andreoff; and four siblings, Jane (Wanda) Strelitz, Francis Gerald (Bud) Andreoff, Richard (Stub) Andreoff, and Eva Collins. She is survived by: her four children, Dennis (Joeva) Conrad of Palouse, WA; Susan Conrad of Moscow, ID; Barbara (Earl) Aston of Moscow, ID; Amy Conrad (Farshid Hessami) of Spokane, WA; two sisters, Viola Tanner, Freemont, CA; Jean (Lyle) Russell of Eureka, CA; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on April 15, 2017 at the First Baptist Church in Castleford at 11:00 a.m., followed by burial at the West End Cemetery in Buhl and a luncheon in Filer. Please join the family in celebrating Betty's life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Spokane, PO Box 2215, Spokane, WA 99210.
