Barbara M.S Dettman was born in Milwaukee in 1871 She was the daughter of William and Albertina Dettman from Prussia who settled in Milwaukee to Wood County Wisconsin she married Lafayette C. Meacham an educated man from Pierepont, St Lawrence, New York on July 5 1888 in Wood county , Wisconsin . they had Six children together.

Mary Albertena Meachum:B 30 Aug 1889 in Seneca, Wood, Wis.

William Meachum B: 12 Sep 1891 in Seneca, Wood, Wisconsin .

Annie Meachum B: 11 Aug 1893 in Seneca, Wood, Wisconsin .

Frank C Meachum B: 1 May 1896 in Seneca, Wood, Wisconsin .

Frederick Meachum B: 21 Mar 1898 in Seneca, Wood, Wisconsin .

Lafayette Meacham died in the winter of January 1898 the log
cabin they lived in Seneca , Wisconsin . Had exploded when Lafayette tried lighting the stove to keep the house warm during the night . Bertha and her children were all injured in the explosion. Bertha and her children after that night experienced so much heartache that it pulled their family in so many directions. She went to the County for help and in 1900 and received $ 126.78 . She and her children moved in with relatives and friends during her that time she recovered and married John Nimm a widower who lost his wife Anna Zoelle.
they married about 1903 and had two sons Andrew and Edwin Nimm.

Bertha was the stepmother to Timothy Nimm and Franklin Nimm
Sister Mary Barbara Nimm Gertrude Augusta Nimm .
