90, of 1054 Dallas-Stanley Highway died Wednesday, January 17, 2001 at Brian Center in Gastonia.
A native of Lincoln Co, she was the daughter of the late Levi and Docia Abernathy Baker. She was a retired weaver and a lifelong member of Long Creek Memorial Baptist Church where she was Junior Superintendent and Bible School Superintendent. Mrs. Jenkins taught study courses in various churches throughout Gaston County and was known to many as "Mom Bert".
In addition to her parents and husband Mrs. Jenkins was preceded in death by a son William L. Jenkins, one brother and six sisters.
Surviving are one daughter Rebecca Siler of Huntersville, one son Grady Jenkins of Lusby, MD, one daughter-in-law, Vemelle Jenkins of Lusby, MD, one brother Jay Baker of Dallas, eight grandchildren: Les and his wife Lois Siler, Rick Siler all of Huntersville, LeAnn and her husband Lee White of Charlotte, Sharon and her husband Alan Selig of Maryland, Dr. Jeffrey Jenkins of GA, Julie and her husband John Brown of Canada, and 20 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 PM Saturday at Dallas Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 21, 2001, 3:00 PM at Long Creek Memorial Baptist Church with Reverend Kevin Purcell and Reverend Robert Summey officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Les Siler, Rick Siler, Dr. Jeffrey Jenkins, Joe Paysour, Ronnie Baker, and Lee White.
