Surveyor. The son of Joshua and Sperry Robbins, he was well known for his surveying skill in St. Charles and Lincoln counties, Missouri. He is best noted as the man who establish the Fifth Principal Meridian in present-day Arkansas, a foundational survey in the Midwest that established essentially the division of the Louisiana Territory into the Missouri Territory (and later to the State of Missouri on August 10, 1821). During the War of 1812, he served as a first lieutenant of Rangers in the United States Volunteers.
