Obituary of Mrs Elizabeth Sumner. Sister Sumner departed this life July 8th, 1917. She joined the Baptist Church at Providence shortly after the church was organized and remained a member of that church as long as she lived. She was laid to rest in the nearby cemetery.
She was born December 13th, 1837, and married to William Phifer, who died in the civil war, and then married to John B Sumner, who also departed this life some time ago. Sister Sumner was the mother of the following children, Mrs B F Clements, Mrs J H Cranford, Mrs Ike Sartain, and Robert Sumner, and several step children. ---- Mountain Eagle, September 5, 1917 (edited)
