Genevieve "MawMaw" Theresa Coutee Barnes a native of Alexandria, LA and a resident of Marrero, LA entered eternal rest on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at the age of 84.Shewas a dedicated License Practical Nurse for over 30 years.
Genevieve is survived by her beloved husband of 47 years, Frank Barnes; two daughters, Pamela Coleman and Mary Leak, brother Stephen Coutee, sister in law Wyomie Coutee, 7 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 18 great great grandchildren as well as a host of nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Rosine Coutee; her brothers John, Phillip and Lawrence Coutee; three sisters, Saraphine Rachal, Mary Rachal and Rosine Watson; and grandson, Kenneth Gipson Jr.

Relatives and friends of the family, also Priest and parishioners of St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, and Pastors, Officers and Members of Algiers Upper Room C.O.G.I.C. are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at St. Peter Claver Church, 1923 St. Phillip St. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM. Interment: Westlawn Cemetery, Gretna, LA. Arrangements by D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home.
