Although Orzo does not appear in the 1850 or 1860 U.S. Censuses, Ancestry Family shows that he resided in the household with his parents, Cyrus and Charlotte, and two brother, Oren P., and Oscar Bruce. He enlisted in Company E, 7th Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry, for a 3-year term of service, June 20, 1861. He died at Cumberland, Maryland, presumably in the hospital from illness, February 19, 1862. Rank: Sgt. According to Mark Hughes, in his book, "Bivouac of the Dead," (1995). p. 60, those soldiers who died at Cumberland, Maryland and buried there were moved to Antietam National Cemetery after the war. However, the U.S. Government has no record of his burial at Antietam National. This is not unusual because of 4,695 Union soldiers buried there, 1,792 (38%) are unidentified. His father applied for a benefit based on his son's military service, September 5, 1879, which was approved and issued as Certificate #203554.

Orzo's name is on the monument of the 7th Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry, located at Woodland Cemetery, Cleveland, Ohio.
