Mrs. Amanda Dietl, aged 86, died Sunday afternoon at 12:30 o'clock in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Fuchs, with whom she lived. She had been ill three weeks of a heart ailment.

Mrs. Dietl was a member of a pioneer family of Union township. Her parents, Michael and Virginia C. Hupp, were early settlers, coming to Lakeville about 1838. Mr. Hupp built the first log cabin in what is now the town limits of Lakeville. He owned nearly all the land on the east side of Michigan Street. It is on this tract that Mrs. Dietl's property is located now occupied by the Fuchs family. Her father built one of the first store buildings in Lakeville. It was on the site of the present Hummer hardware building, just south of the Dietl property.

Mrs. Dietl was born on Hupp homestead in Lakeville Dec. 6, 1849. In 1867, she married Ancil B. Moon, who died Aug. 3, 1875. Two daughters, Mrs. Emma Berglund, Denver, Colo., and Mrs. Jennie Whitman, Wachula, Fla., survive. In 1881 she married George Dietl, who is also dead. Of the large family of Hupp children a sister of Mrs. Dietl, Mrs. Virginia C. Barkley, South Bend, is the sole survivor.

Friends may view the body in the Fuchs home after this evening until 1:30 o'clock Tuesday when it will be removed to the Methodist Episcopal church to lie in state until 2:30 o'clock when the funeral will be held.

Mrs. Dietl was a member of Methodist church for many years.

Rev. Mortimer Dean, of Methodist church officiating. Rev. Ralph V. Callaway assisting. Interment will be made in Lakeville cemetery.
