E.C. Zuhn “Papa EC”, went to be with his Lord on Monday morning, April 3, 2017, at the age of 92 surrounded by his family.

E.C. was born in La Grange, Texas on September 10, 1924, the son of J.P. Zuhn and Helena (Wiemken) Zuhn. He was baptized on September 23, 1924, at Trinity Hill by Rev. A.E. Moebus and confirmed on April 2, 1939, at Trinity Hill by O.C. Schreiner. E.C. attended Trinity Hill Lutheran School and La Grange High School. He entered the U.S. Army in 1945 and served in the Asiatic Pacific and was honorably discharged in 1947. He married Frieda “Fritzie” Nowotnik on January 24, 1954 in Manheim, Texas.

E.C. returned home to La Grange to help his father on the family farm and dairy. He also worked at carpentry and was a driver for RC Cola Company. He started his own construction business with his three sons. After retirement, he worked as a Manager for Weeren Storage. Upon re-retirement, he continued at home tending to his animals, garden and tinkering in his shop.

He was a member of Trinity Hill Lutheran Church until they merged with Zion Lutheran in La Grange, forming Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. He served as a Sunday school teacher, superintendent, trustee, elder and cemetery sexton.

E.C.’s greatest love was for his wife and children and being Papa to grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Frieda, of 63 years; children: Diana (Paul) Mikulin; Michael (Lori) Zuhn of La Grange; Timothy (Ann) Zuhn of Minnesota; Stephen (Lisa) Zuhn of New Mexico; grandchildren: Anthony and Mark (Susannah) Mikulin; Aaron, Dillon and Hannah Zuhn; great grandchildren: Holden and Holly Mikulin; sisters-in-law, Esther Donsbach and Kitty Nowotnik; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Edna Schoppa, Marie Adamcik, Ann Garner and Helen Harrell; brothers: John and Willie Zuhn and several nephews.

Visitation will be held at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home. Family will receive friends. Funeral Services will be held at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in La Grange. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be grandsons: Anthony and Mark Mikulin; Aaron and Dillon Zuhn; family friends, Donald Roensch and Craig Peterson. Honorary pallbearer will be granddaughter, Hannah Zuhn.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Calvary Preschool or Hospice Brazos Valley.
