Cora L. Fortman (nee Welch), age 89 years and a resident of North Ridgeville, died Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at Center Ridge Nursing Home.Cora was born October 4, 1921 in Kipton to the late Daniel and Lillimay (nee Bartow) Welch. Cora was raised in Collins. She was a 1939 graduate of New London High School. Cora resided in Elyria from 1941 until moving to Amherst in 1969. In 1953 Cora went to work in the Meat Department of Fisher Foods in Elyria where she was employed for ten years and then was working at K-Mart in Lorain until 1967. In the past, Cora enjoyed golfing, fishing, knitting, crocheting, bridge and pinochle. She was past president of Little League South, Elyria.Survivors include her son Robert (wife Edna) of Granbury, Texas, five grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.In addition to her parents, Cora was preceded in death by her husband Robert (1974), a son William (2002), and brothers Clark, Kenneth, and Robert Welch.A memorial service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Amherst Congregational United Church of Christ, 379 South Main Street, Amherst.
