Ramona M. Higgins, age 90, of Plover, died April 2, 2017 at Aspirus Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids, WI.

Ramona was born October 15, 1926 to the late Peter & Cora (Beamus) Leiter Sr. in Mosinee, WI. She attended Mosinee grade school and graduated from Mosinee High School in 1945.

She married Jesse Higgins Jr. on November 11, 1950 in Stevens Point. They were happily married for 66 years.

Ramona will be remembered for her love of her grandchildren, enjoyment of cheering on the Chicago cubs and bird watching. She also enjoyed crafting and sewing and had a true appreciation for flowers. She relished spending time watching her family play ball at the ball park.

She is survived by her loving husband, Jesse; 5 sons, David (Donna) Higgins of Plover, Thomas (Nancy) Higgins of Plover, Dale (Vicki) Higgins of Custer, Robert Higgins of Plover, Dennis (Shelly) Higgins of Plover; 9 daughters, Marcia (Dan) Raasch of Wausau, Patricia (Ken) Trzebiatowski of Almond, Alice (Rodney) Berg of Wisconsin Rapids, Rosie Higgins of Thorp, Christina (Edmond) Schmid Sr. of Junction City, Sandra Higgins (John) of Wisconsin Rapids, Linda (James) Kizewski of Rosholt, Dorothea (Thomas) Brogan of Arpin, Jeannie (Robert) Glodowski of Custer; 37 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren on the way.

She was preceded in death by one grandson; 1 great-granddaughter; 1 great-grandson; brothers, Peter and Donald Leiter; and 1 son-in-law.

A Funeral Service will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Boston Funeral Home. A time of visitation will be held at Boston Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 5 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Meehan Cemetery.
