Obituary for Jerry Wayne Tipton
Jerry Wayne Tipton age 68 of Knoxville, formerly of Lenoir City, went Home on Saturday morning, April 1, 2017, surrounded by family and friends at Parkwest Hospital. Jerry’s beautiful smile and his brilliant blue eyes, which lit up rooms and lives on this earth, are now the TALK of Heaven! When he crossed over we KNOW Jerry looked into the eyes of Jesus, and we KNOW he saw our precious mom and dad in the background, along with a host of others who are having the biggest celebration EVER even now, as we prepare to gather and celebrate his amazing life! We know this because, as he took his final breath, we witnessed the most beautiful “Jerry Smile” ever, followed by absolute peace upon Jerry’s face. Thank YOU, Sweet Jesus, for making Your Presence so GREATLY known, and confirming to us in such a mighty way, that Jerry is HOME.
Our precious brother...Jerry. God has worked multiple miracles in his life, and Jerry was such a blessing to us and to all who knew him. Jerry loved EVERYBODY, and if he came into contact with you, he prayed for you. What more could we ask in a brother and friend? Many will remember Jerry as one of the Lenoir City Panthers’ greatest fans. And then there are his beloved Tennessee Vols. Jerry’s blood ran deep orange on both counts! Jerry was an avid fan and collector of Elvis memorabilia, watches and clocks. Jerry was also a long-time member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lenoir City, and he still loved his Calvary family deeply. He most recently attended Knoxville First Presbyterian Church, where he loved attending his Jesus’ Friends Class with his Sertoma Family. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, R.C. and Elaine Tipton. He is survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Judy and Horace Monger, Jeanne and Mike Tuck; nieces and nephews Robbie Monger, Tara and Clint Kelley, Lisa and Tommy Mainor and Mark and Jennifer Monger, and Shawn Tuck; his special friend of more than 20 years, Tina Monk; his Sertoma brother, Jake; and his many other Sertoma Family members, who are far too many to list.
The family would like to express a special thank you, with much love, to all Jerry’s present and former caregivers. This includes his Sertoma Family, with whom he lived and thrived for the past six years; and his Loudon County ACT Family, which was a major part of his life for more than 20 years. In these environments, Jerry experienced a fullness of life and independence that would have never been possible otherwise. There are no words to express the love and gratefulness in our hearts for all of you who loved and cared for Jerry like he was your own. May God richly bless you, each and every one.
