LaVonna Jean “Bonnie” Alexander, 94 of Clinton, IL formerly of Maroa, IL passed away 8:24 A.M. April 1, 2017 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, Normal, IL.

Services will be 11:00 A.M., Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Pastor Nathan Shaulis officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield, IL. Visitation will be 10 – 11 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to Awana at the Harvest Community Church, Maroa, IL.

Bonnie was born March 14, 1923 in Peoria, IL the daughter of Edson and Emma Jean (Orlopp) Smith. She married Herbert J. Alexander, the love of her life, May 10, 1942 in Bloomington, IL. He passed away March 8, 2000.

Survivors include her children: Patricia (David) Bartlett, Wallisville, TX, Marilyn (Phillip) Beck, Maroa, IL, Rosemary (Terry) Barthelemy, Salina, KS, Gary Scott (Debbie) Alexander, Decatur, IL, Laura (Vince) Wright, Pensacola, FL, David (Debra) Alexander, Maroa, IL; brother: Ken (Marilyn) Smith, Anaheim, CA and daughter-in-law: Carlone Alexander, Clinton, IL. 15 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son: Dale, 6 brothers and 1 sister Bonnie was a member of the Harvest Community Church, Maroa, IL, the American Legion Auxiliary, Caterpillar Retirees Club, and the Red Hat Society. She loved hummingbirds and butterflies. She was a Child Evangelism teacher in Decatur, Forsyth, and Maroa for 21 years and taught Sunday school at the Harvest Community Church of Maroa, (Formerly known as the Maroa Bible Church) for many years. The family would like to thank the Dr. Brit Williams, Dr. Holly Novak, Dr. Trask, and the Prairie Cardiovascular group of Springfield for their loving care, as well as Liberty Village Manor Court Staff.
