Robert Branson Parker, age 77, LaPlace, LA, formerly of Robinson, IL, passed away peacefully at home on May 30th, 2013.
Born May 31, 1935 in Flat Rock, IL he was the son of Issac L. and Mary Ellen Branson Parker. Robert enlisted in the Army and served a tour of duty in Germany. In 1985 Robert married Rebecca (Clements) in Las Vegas, NV and she survives.
Upon his return from the service, he worked at WAKO Radio Station, Lawrenceville, IL as an assistant manager. Later, he joined his Uncle, H.L. Brown's car dealership and quickly learned the automobile business. After his uncle Brownie retired, Robert purchased the business and it became Parkland Motors. He later closed Parkland Motors and joined Owen Campbell Pontiac, Buick, GMC dealership as a general sales manager until his retirement in 1992. Upon retiring, he and his wife Rebecca moved south where they have lived for the past 20 years, enjoying their love of the outdoors with visits to the Florida beaches and frequent fishing trips.
Survivors include his wife Rebecca Parker, LaPlace, LA; sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Dana Parker, Louisville, KY; Ryan and Missy Parker, Charleston, IL; daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly and Ronnie Reese, Louisville, KY., Dawn and Albert Holman, Bowling Green, OH; two sisters, Helen Rich and Pat Hoagland, both of Robinson, IL; sisters-in-law and spouses, Jana and William Connelly, Ottawa, IL; Gail and Dick Beckemeyer, LaPlace, LA; mother-in-law, Janet Randle, LaPlace, LA; ten grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers-in-law, Mervin Rich and Donald Hoagland; nephew, Randy Rich and his father-in-law, Joseph Randle.
A special thank you and gratitude to Robert's sister-in-law, Gail Beckemeyer and mother-in-law, Janet Randle for their loving daily care. Also his nephews Jesse and Cody Beckemeyer, LaPlace, LA and Jarret Connelly, Findlay, OH for their extra care and loving interest throughout his illness. Funeral service will be Tuesday June 4, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson, IL with visitation from 9:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Robinson New Cemetery, Robinson, IL. Military graveside rites will be accorded by combined units from E. M. Coulter Post # 69 & D. B. Reavill Post # 132, American Legion, VFW Post #4549 and AMVETS Post #33 all of Crawford County.
